A cloudy start towards Inverness and Nairn but this should gradually lift and break through the morning. Otherwise dry and warm with bright or sunny spells. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

A dry night with clear periods although rather cloudy across parts of Caithness. A few mist patches forming in the glens by morning. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Sunday:

Any mist patches quickly dispersing the leave a dry day with plenty of warm sunshine. Light winds. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

High pressure is expected to keep dry, settled weather for the first half of next week with more warm sunshine and light winds.

High pressure is expected to drift to the northwest at the start of this period. This will allow a north to northeasterly airstream to affect much of the UK, leading to rather cool conditions in some northern and eastern areas. As a vigorous area of low pressure emerges into the North Atlantic by the following weekend, connected to what is currently Tropical Storm Erin, high pressure may re-build across the UK for a time, bringing widely fine and dry conditions and for some, an increase in temperatures, relative to the previous few days. The final week of August may see Atlantic weather systems progress over the UK, with a small chance of widely wetter and windier weather developing, though there is much uncertainty in this aspect of the forecast.

Confidence in the details through this period is low. However, low pressure and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely, and with this comes the potential for stronger winds at times as well. Whether this takes the form of further low pressure systems running in from the Atlantic, or a rather more slowly evolving weather pattern is less clear. Temperatures are likely be near to above average overall.
